Position Description

Medix is partnering with a leading licensed psychiatric facility in Chino, CA, to find a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to ensure patient safety and therapeutic support during evening and overnight hours.

This essential role requires direct inpatient clinical trial experience and a strong understanding of California-specific behavioral health regulations. If you're adept at crisis intervention and can work independently, we encourage you to apply!

What You'll Do:

  • Direct Psychiatric Care: Deliver overnight psychiatric care, monitoring patient safety, emotional stability, and clinical needs for voluntary or involuntary holds.
  • Medication & Documentation: Administer and document all psychiatric and medical medications per BRN guidelines, including 15-minute safety checks per California DHCS requirements.
  • Crisis Intervention: Lead or support behavioral interventions using CPI/non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with psychiatrists, behavioral health technicians, and other nurses, providing concise handoffs.
  • Therapeutic Environment: Help maintain a trauma-informed, recovery-focused environment with attention to cultural competence and patient rights.

What You'll Bring:

  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted California LVN license.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of inpatient psychiatric nursing experience, preferably in a locked or LPS-designated facility.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of California DHCS behavioral health standards.
  • Key Attributes: Calm, confident, and compassionate in high-pressure situations; ability to work independently with sound clinical judgment; strong documentation and legal awareness. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
